I did something I never imagined I could do. I quit a steady job, let go of my dream apartment, sold my car, cancelled my gym membership and said farewell to everyone and everything I knew. I am not one to make rash decisions. I am far from a dare devil. I hate the unknown and the concept of starting over is more terrifying than being a passenger on Malaysia Airlines. I think I died and went to Europe... 

I have lived in Los Angeles for nearly 10 years and I can't believe I've never been to this glorious island. 

The journey starts with Catalina Express. Trulo Tip! For an extra $15 you can upgrade to the Commodore's Lounge which is on the upper tier of the ferry, it includes a snack and a cocktail. AND if you tend to get sea sick (like yours truly) this lends to a very smooth ride.

I just got back from a trip to Europe where I spent 24 hours in Vienna. The trick to having a successful experience if you have limited time, is the planning beforehand. I'm an avid traveler and been to a decent amount of places in the world. A few years ago I took an entire year off to travel to all of my bucket list destinations. I started in South Africa and ended in the Amalfi Coast. Somewhere in between I saw the Cliffs of Moher, made clogs in the Netherlands, kayaked the Algarve, rode an elephant, swam with penguins, and had a traditional English breakfast in London.
